James graduated from the City Law School at the University of London (U.K.) in 2017, after receiving an Honours Bachelor of Arts from University of Toronto in 2015. He is currently pursuing an LL.M. at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, and will be a candidate for the Ontario and New York bars in the summer of 2018. While in law school, James won First Class Awards for his studies in Corporate Law, Commercial and Agency Law, and English Legal Systems.
James is involved in MB&O’s business litigation and contract matters for clients throughout Canada and the United States. He has worked on issues relating to the structuring, governance, and financing of companies, as well as cross border transactions, intellectual property strategy, licensing arrangements, mergers and acquisitions, and litigation support, primarily for companies in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and healthcare sectors.
Prior to joining MB&O, James worked in both the banking and insurance industries, as well as directly for the CEO of a life sciences company. James currently serves on the board of an early-stage biotechnology company involved in neurological therapeutics. In his spare time, James works with the Medical Intelligence and Innovation Institute at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County and with the International Society for Pediatric Innovation.
