    Profile

    Gavin has twenty years of global legal experience across sectors and practices corporate and commercial law with an emphasis on cross-border business issues. His experience includes corporate transactions, such as acquisitions, financings, licensing and divestitures and managing intellectual property holdings. Gavin also advises clients on business issues with a special emphasis on regulatory, intellectual property and due diligence matters. He frequently advises consumer products companies on advertising and marketing matters including celebrity and professional athlete endorsement negotiations.

    Gavin is also a U.S. patent attorney and a Canadian trademark agent. He has significant experience in life sciences law, including pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and nutritional supplement matters.

    Prior to establishing Magyar, Bogle, O’Hara, Gavin was General Counsel at Iovate, a mid-sized private Canadian company; Patent Counsel at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in Cambridge MA; Senior Patent Attorney at Genetics Institute in Cambridge MA; and a patent attorney at a major New York IP firm. Gavin also held a clerkship at the Tax Court of Canada.

    Gavin has been a frequent speaker at international and domestic conferences on Canadian-American cross-border legal issues as well as legal issues pertaining to intellectual property due diligence and acquisitions.

    Gavin is happily married with teenaged triplets – yes, you read correctly – happily married with triplets.  He is a car aficionado, having raced his Porsche 911 for many years and has even attracted attention in the press for converting his 1974 Dodge Dart into an electric vehicle.
